Philippine Normal University Visayas held its annual Send-Off and Pinning Ceremony on August 19, 2024, at PNUV Drilon Covered Court.

This was one of the most anticipated moments of PNUans as it marked another milestone on their journey as torchbearers of Inang Pamantasan.

This event was attended by students, faculty members, staff, friends, proud parents, and families.
“The training that you would gain in the cooperating schools that you would be assigned will provide you with real-life experiences that would shape you to become an effective teacher,” Dr. Gliceria Arlyn G. Garancho, Dean for Academics and the Hub, stated in her opening remarks.

She also reminded them to be mindful of the core values of PNU, which are truth, excellence, and service, as these values would make them different and standout.

Dr. Ralger D. Jocson, Jr., Executive Director and Provost, left also an impactful message as he encouraged them to embrace every moment, whether it’s a triumph or a setback. He also challenged them to go beyond what was expected.

“𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒅𝒔, 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝒅𝒆𝒆𝒑𝒍𝒚 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒖𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒍𝒚 𝒔𝒆𝒆𝒌 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒐𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒇𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒅𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒑𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕,” he said.

The highlight of the event was the pinning ceremony. The smiles of students from the Bachelor in English Education (BEE), Bachelor in Filipino Education (BFE), Bachelor in Math Education (BME), Bachelor in Mathematics and Science Elementary Education (BMSEE), Bachelor in Physical and Health Education (BPHE), and Bachelor in Social Science Education (BSSE) were contagious as they were pinned and presented by their advisers.

Everyone was filled with enthusiasm as each Fourth-Year student received their pin as a symbol of their perseverance and dedication over the years.

Dr. Maria Fatima P. Dolendo, Associate Dean, Faculty of Teacher Development, concluded the event as she said, “As you embark on this journey, know that the foundation you’ve built here combined with the invaluable experiences you’ll gain will equip you to be not just effective teachers but future-ready teachers and leaders in the field of education. Teaching is more than a profession; it’s a calling. You have answered the call with dedication, resilience, and compassion. As you move forward, carry with you the belief that each student has the potential to achieve greatness, and you play a crucial role in helping them reach it.”
